The University is pleased to announce the promotion and appointment of Dr. Jose Maria G. Mariano to the Emeritus Full Professor Rank in recognition of his dedicated service. UA&P is greatly indebted to the former University President for his work in institution-building and continues to bank on his academic expertise.
Dr. Mariano joined CRC in December 1988 after obtaining his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Navarre (Spain) and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 1989. He was appointed Academic Director of CAS when it started in 1989, and subsequently became Dean in 1993. He left CAS in 1999 to serve as VP for Administrative Affairs. In November 2000, he was appointed as the third University President, a post he served until June 2015. During that period he continued to teach in both undergraduate and graduate programs and to contribute to the shaping of liberal education and research in the UA&P.
UA&P looks forward to his valuable contributions in teaching and carrying out the University’s research agenda.
