Taiwan has been a model of development and an inspiration for democracies in the Asia-Pacific. For decades, it has played an important but largely under discussed role in the Philippines and the ASEAN. How can we understand and appreciate the role that Taiwan has played in the region? How is Taiwan pursuing its relationship with the Philippines and the ASEAN today? What are the various opportunities between the Philippines, the ASEAN, and Taiwan for international cooperation in the areas of trade, security, and development?
Together with BusinessWorld, the Think Asia Pacific Forum will hold a discussion on Taiwan’s Relationship with the ASEAN on May 19 (Wednesday) at 2:00 pm. Ambassador Michael Peiyung Hsu of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines will be the guest speaker.
Ambassador Hsu will be joined by UA&P co-founder Dr. Bernardo Villlegas, School of Law and Governance (SLG) Dean Dr. Nicomedes Alviar, and SLG Assistant Professor and President and CEO of WRN Research Dr. Robin Michael Garcia. The event will be hosted by Gleefer Jalea, a UA&P MA Political Economy student and a Multiplatform Journalist at CNN Philippines.
The Think Asia Pacific Forum is SLG’s platform to articulate meaningful interdisciplinary thought to global society.
