The latest issue of the Journal of Higher Education Outreach and Engagement (JHEOE) published by the University of Georgia (UGA) includes among its “Projects with Promise” the Kabagis Aeta Projects of UA&P Associate Professor Dr. Veronica E. Ramirez.
The journal article, entitled “University–Community Outreach as an Enabler for Integral Human Development During the COVID-19 Pandemic,” appears in the first issue of the 27th volume of the JHEOE released on April 28, 2023. Penned by Dr. Ramirez, the article examines in particular how the Kabagis Aeta Projects succeeded in its initial implementation, moving from distribution of goods to capability building.
From the abstract:
“(The Kabagis Aeta Projects) has improved family living conditions and instilled positive work values among the Aetas of Castillejos, Zambales, Philippines. The interventions served as enablers of integral human development in personal, economic, social, ecological, and spiritual life. Beyond physical, structural interventions and resources, values formation was integrated to achieve integral human development.”
