The 1st National Research Conference, organized by Laguna University (LU), was held last September 27. With the theme “Synergizing Research for a Sustainable Future: Collaborative Solutions for Global Challenges,” the conference was held via Zoom and saw the participation of more than 600 attendees.

Dr. Ruel Maningas, the UA&P School of Management Vice Dean for Faculty Affairs and Research and Program Director of Master in Applied Business Analytics (MABA) served as the conference keynote speaker. He shared his thoughts, insights, and lived experience through the topic “Leveraging Digital Innovation for Sustainable Transformation: A Roadmap to Achieving SDGs in Higher Education”
Key points that were highlighted in the speech include the notions of digital innovation, digital transformation, and digital literacy. Dr. Maningas, using case studies of successful campus-wide digital initiatives, discussed the importance of a whole-institution approach to digital innovation, overcoming challenges and barriers to digital adoption, and the potential of emerging technologies and their impact on the student experience, teaching and learning, and research.
He also talked about how HEIs can contribute to SDGs through digital innovation and digital transformation practices.
LU was established in 2006 by the Provincial Government of Laguna in its pursuit to promote the right of all Lagunenses to quality education at all levels. At present, LU has more than 5,000 students, with thirteen degree programs and one certificate program, all recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
