UA&P-IST explores collaboration with Anihan Technical School

The UA&P Department of Information Science and Technology (IST) visited Anihan Technical School in Calamba, Laguna, on August 14 to explore collaboration opportunities. Anihan is a technical-vocational institute owned by the Foundation for Professional Training, Inc. (FPTI), a non-profit organization promoting lifelong development for women.

Among the items discussed were the rehabilitation of the school’s computer laboratory, the development of systems to digitize Anihan’s student records, the possibility of setting up in UA&P retail arrangements for Anihan products, and the introduction of Information Technology courses into Anihan’s program offerings.

Clutario, Anihan Technical School’s Vice-Director for Student Affairs; Ms. Ma. Rowena I. Nazareno, Anihan Technical School’s School Director; and Ms. Karla Beatrice Cepeda, Program Coordinator of IST.

IST is committed to expanding students’ skill sets and providing more career opportunities in the tech industry. The visit was a solid step in building a connection between UA&P and Anihan, focusing on practical solutions and future growth.

Anihan Technical School was established by the FPTI in 1986 to take on the challenge of lack of skills and job opportunities among women living in the margins of CALABARZON’s agro-industrialized areas. The school offers young women two-year technical-vocational courses with job opportunities in institutional services.

Anihan also supports women in communities through an adjunct project, the Anihan Livelihood Center. This initiative allows women to produce artisan baked goods (photo above), with proceeds going towards raising scholarship funds, further empowering the community and providing valuable support for education.
