Carmi Esclanda is a data scientist experienced in planning and decision analytics focused on the public sector. She teaches data visualization and mining at the University of Asia and the Pacific. She has provided technical expertise in executing analytics for the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and currently serves under the Central Bank of the Philippines, leading big data initiatives for macroeconomic monitoring and alternative index generation. She volunteers as a Mentor with the For the Women Foundation, supporting women in developing analytics use cases. In 2021, she was recognized as the best data storyteller by the Asian Development Bank by sharing an analysis on connectivity, inclusivity, and gender parity in the pandemic era. Her team was also recognized recently for developing a customer opinion mapping for bank intelligence during the Bank for International Settlements – Innovation Hub Hackathon in Singapore.
