Inbound Student Exchange

An inbound exchange student is a student from a foreign university who comes to study at UA&P for a semester or academic year as part of a student exchange program. Essentially, they are international students who are temporarily enrolled at UA&P rather than transferring permanently.

Process

  1. Nomination: Your home university nominates you for the program during UA&P’s call for nominations.
  2. Notification: UA&P’s Public and International Affairs (PIA) Office informs you and your home university of the nomination results via email.
  3. Application requirements (if accepted);
    • Application form (word / pdf )
    • Transcript of Records (TOR) (minimum 2.0 GWA)
    • Endorsement letter from your home university
    • Medical certificate from your home university
    • Passport copy
    • Insurance copy
    • 2 x 2 inches photo in jpg format
    • Proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) (waiver possible for universities with English as primary instruction)
  4. Acceptance: Submit the above-mentioned documents on or before the application deadline to PIA office ([email protected]). Upon successful application, PIA will issue an acceptance letter (cc your home university)
  5. Pre-arrival: A week before classes begin, PIA will host an orientation to familiarize foreign students with UA&P’s culture (refer to the UA&P Student Handbook for advanced study).
  6. Program Completion: At the end of your exchange program, PIA will send you a student feedback form to complete. This is part of the required clearance process for all students at UA&P.

    Note: UA&P will issue your TOR upon full clearance from all university accounts.

  1. Am I eligible to be an inbound exchange student at UA&P?
    To become an inbound exchange student at UA&P, your home university must have a formal exchange partnership with us. Your university will need to nominate you during our application period. Alternatively, if your university is a member of the University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific (UMAP), you may also be eligible to apply.

  2. What are the areas of discipline UA&P offers?
    Applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Child Development and Education, Entrepreneurial Management, Human Capital Development, Humanities, Industrial Economics, Industrial Engineering, Integrated Marketing Communications, Information Technology, Management, Media and Entertainment Management, Political Economy

  3. What language is used as a medium of instruction?
    English is the medium of instruction in UA&P.

  4. When is the deadline for applying as an inbound exchange student?
    For the first semester (August to December), every 4th week of April

    For the second semester (January to May), every 1st week of October

  5. Does the university have a residence?
    The university does not provide on-campus housing. However, we can assist students in finding accommodation before their arrival.

  6. How do I get a visa?
    Once you arrive in the Philippines, the university’s Registrar’s Office will assist you in obtaining a student visa or permit. All you need to do is provide the necessary documents.

    Please note that you will need to extend your tourist visa multiple times (approximately 3-4 times) at the Bureau of Immigration while you are studying here.

  7. Can you give me an estimated cost of living per semester?
    To cover basic living expenses such as housing, utilities, transportation, and food, students should expect to spend approximately PHP30,000 per month. Individual spending habits may influence this amount to a greater or lesser degree.

    Additional costs, such as the Php10,000.00 inbound fee and fees imposed by the Bureau of Immigration, are not factored into this estimated cost of living.

Outbound Student Exchange

Outbound exchange students are UA&P undergraduates who temporarily enroll in a partner university for one or two semesters to earn academic credits.

Process

  1. Application:
    If you are interested in an exchange program, complete the initial requirements here. Once done, submit these documents to your respective  school’s exchange coordinator based on your program:
  2. Nomination:  Once submitted, wait for a nomination letter from PIA.
  3. Nomination Results: Once nominated by PIA, you will receive information from the host university regarding application requirements. Note that you are in charge of the following:
    • Host university application requirements
    • Courses to enroll
    • Visa and insurance
    • Accommodation
    • Air ticket
  4. Acceptance: Once accepted by the host university, you must attend the pre-departure orientation by PIA and the host university’s orientation for incoming exchange students.

  1. What are the qualifications to be an outbound exchange student?
    To qualify, students must have completed at least two years of study with a minimum GPA of 2.0 and a clean disciplinary record.

  2. Which university can I apply to?
    Your host university must be a partner university of UA&P or a member of the University Mobility of Asia and the Pacific (UMAP).

  3. May I apply to more than one partner university?
    Yes. Please rank your top three preferred universities on the application form. We will prioritize your nominations based on this list.

  4. What are the requirements of an outbound exchange student?
    • Outbound exchange application form (word / pdf)

    • Certificate of good moral character
    • Passport copy

      Please note that your host university has its own set of requirements that you must accoplish on top of UA&P’s requirements.

  5. Should I take English test examinations such as IELTS/TOEFL?
    English proficiency requirements vary from the host university. However, most of our partner institutions accept an English language certificate.

  6. How much does it cost to join a student exchange program?
    The cost of living will depend on your chosen university. Typically, this information is included in the university’s application materials.

  7. Do I pay tuition fee at the host university?
    As an outbound exchange student, you don’t pay tuition fees at the host university. However, you will still need to enroll in equivalent courses at UA&P and pay the corresponding tuition.

  8. Can merit scholars apply for an outbound exchange program?
    Yes, your scholarship can be applied towards the student exchange program. To receive your stipend while abroad, please designate a representative locally to receive your stipends on your behalf. Your representative will need to provide a letter of authorization and a photocopy of a valid ID to claim the stipend checks.

  9. May I take outside subjects/courses outside of my curriculum?
    Yes, you may.

  10. Will UA&P assist me with my visa application? 
    UA&P may assist in advising you with your visa application. Note however that the visa application process differs between countries and universities.

  11. Will I be delayed if I go on a student exchange program?
    Students who go on exchange typically get delayed.
Short-term programs

English Immersion Program

The four-week English Immersion Program (EIP) offers participants the chance to gain practical English language skills from the faculty members of the College of Arts and Sciences and some UA&P students. The program enables students to practice English through authentic, engaging, and intellectually stimulating oral communication tasks.

Mandarin Language Program

The Mandarin Language Program is an online 40-hour course for beginners to master basic Chinese phonetics, including tone variations, ‘PINYIN’, pronunciation, and basic conversation skills in the 1st semester. In the 2nd to 4th semesters, the program focuses on learning Chinese characters, expanding vocabulary, developing listening skills for practical conversation, and advancing skills in essay and story writing. The program culminates in speech delivery to showcase proficiency in Mandarin communication.

Oxford Certification Programme

The Oxford Certificate Programs offered by Worcester College and Oriel College of Oxford University is an academic study abroad program that offers cutting-edge subjects designed to complement a student’s existing studies, providing them with methodologies and case studies that will set them above their peers.
