Research Culture

RESEARCH, with its necessary subsequent activity, COMMUNICATION, has been one of three hallmarks of the University of Asia and the Pacific and was the driving force of its forerunner, the Center for Research and Communication. The areas of faculty work fall under the three hallmarks of the University. Teaching forms part of “communication”; “values education” is practiced ordinarily in mentoring; and “people development” through social outreach. Research undergirds all the areas of faculty work and development in varying ways and degrees.

For a research study to receive support from or through the University, it has to be characterized by the following considerations, as ascertained by the academic units through their respective operating committees:

  • Christian orientation, values and perspectives; fidelity in its premises and direction to the teachings of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church;
  • High scientific standards; and
  • The good of the University community, its service communities, and the broader society (national, Asian, global).
